Hey Vin, great post. But one minor correction: It's writing INTO (not "in") the dark." It means writing into the unknown, without being able to see where the story's going.
You can write IN the dark...you just need a good microphone and tape recorder or computer...Just sayin'. For me, though, if I was writing thrillers, that would be a good way to scare myself!
