I just glanced at an essay on what motivates some famous writers to write. From Margaret Atwood to the late Ray Bradbury, everyone gave a sort of convoluted, emotional, if not pie in the sky answer that made me laugh. Agreed, writing should absolutely be fun. I think there's this romantic notion of the tortured artist, that we all have to suffer to create art. In reality, or at least in my case and I sure as hell don't speak for everyone, the suffering came first and the writing eases it, haha! It's a release. I have fun playing with my imaginary friends. I have fun with language. It's fun hallucinating onto paper and cheaper than drugs.
