A new code of ethics has been drafted for literary agents, or so it's been reported by those in the know. One of the new changes to the "code" is that agents can legitimately charge for editorial services. If an agent wants to charge you for this, fire him or her on the spot. BTW: this also indicates that agenting as a viable business model is dying.
