We hadn’t made the turn onto New Scotland Avenue when an Albany Police Department (APD) blue and white police cruiser came speeding up on our tail. Flashers flashing. Sirens blaring.
“PULL OVER!” demanded a bull-horned voice. “PULL OVER!”
At the same time, my smartphone buzzed and rang.
“Scully, get that,” I said. “I’m a little busy.”
She picked it up.
“Oh God,” she said. “It’s Kersh.”
“Don’t an . . .” But it was too late. She’d already pressed the ANSWER button.
