Chapter 16
The corridor was brightly lit from ceiling-mounted halogens. Curiously, there were no security cameras mounted to the wall. None that I could make out anyway. But that didn’t mean some kind of nanotech-like video surveillance device didn’t exist.
“Mulder, should we look for disguises?” Scully posed as if reading my mind.
“We don’t have time for that,” I said. “I’m guessing that it’s only a matter of seconds until someone or something is onto our having breached security.”
Directly up ahead where the corridor came to an end was a mammoth plate glass wall. From where we stood it looked like the glass housed a huge workspace or laboratory.
“There’s our target destination,” I said, once more pulling Charlie Bear’s .45 from my pant waist. “Let’s move. Double-time, Scully.”
