My Award Winning Audio Book!
In total candor, I have never listened to one of my audio books from start to finish. In fact, I haven’t listened to one other than the first few sentences.
Yesterday, I thought I would do a video about this today because some readers, book listeners, and authors might think it absurd that I have never listened to one of the maybe 50 or so audio books that have my name on them.
But in truth, it makes me nervous listening to my own words be dramatized on the page. I would always be looking for mistakes and miscues, so why put myself through that kind of torture.
But then, out of the blue, I get notified that one of my audio books, The Girl Who Wasn’t There, is a finalist for the Audiobook Adrenaline Award. Wow, I never saw that coming.
But what I did see coming is that the narrator, Andrew B Wehrlen, is a terrific actor. He lends his voice to most of my male narrated books and although I’ve never listened to one all the way through, I know full well what he’s capable of.
Now that I’m an award finalist, maybe I’ll listen to “Girl,” and hear the magic for myself.
