“Get her the hell out of here,” ER Surgeon barks.
Patty is escorted out of the operating room by the two burly nurses. She fights them the entire way. When she’s gone, both the ER surgeon and the attending post-mortem surgeon take two or three careful steps back from their new organ donor. Me, that is. They are both staring at my body, not like it’s dead anymore, but more like a miracle has just occurred before their very eyes. I’m the new Lazarus.
The electric saw falls from the post-mortem surgeon’s hand. It makes a loud noise when it hits the hard floor.
