It turns out, I don’t have anything to pack up. But I do need to get to my apartment for a change of clothing, my phone, and some money I have hidden away there. Problem is, my apartment is all the way across town and I have no wheels. Storing the semiautomatic in my pant waist against my spine, I take hold of the shotgun and the box of shells. For now, I leave the cleaning kit behind. The bottles of cleaning and oiling solution it contains are just about empty anyway.
“Where are you going with all that weaponry?” Patty says. “You look like you’re out for blood, Les.”
She’s still wearing nothing but her skimpy undies and a T-shirt that shows off her erect nipples. She’s sipping on a cup of coffee. I go to her and kiss her hard on the mouth. She’s just brushed her teeth, and she tastes wonderful.
“I’m not the one out for blood, remember?” I say when we come up for air. “A prepared man is a protected man.”
She places her hand on my sex and does her best to make me hard. Turns out, she doesn’t need to put a whole lot of effort into it. When she wraps her arms around me and tries to kiss me again, I have no choice but to push her off. I hear her old man’s footsteps slapping the kitchen floor directly above us.
