A thin stream of blood shoots out of my vein when I yank the needle and attached catheter out from the blue vein on my lower left arm. The pain is electric, and I want to scream bloody fucking murder. But then, that would lead directly to my murder. Grabbing my clothes I don’t hesitate to head into the bathroom. The two sets of footsteps are coming closer. What the hell choice do I have but to hide inside the most obvious of hiding places?
I try to lock the door. But there’s no lock on the door handle. It’s a safety precaution that is anything but safe when it comes to my existence. Heart pounds, and the temples inside my brain are pounding like tympani. The back of my head hurts. The throbbing that comes from the bullet wound extends all the way down my spine. I’m just about to pull out my clothes to get dressed when I hear the two men enter the room.
